It’s Tuesday!! That means that means you get to see what I’ve made with Tuesdays with Dorie! Like the title of my post doesn’t tell you! I’m writing this up on Sunday which has become my designated baking day. Sunday is the day that I attempt to catch up on everything such as laundry and cleaning. Luckily, I had a friend drop off her daughter to play with my little one. The house got vacuumed (thanks to my Roomba named Speed Racer), the laundry is washed, clothes are ironed and Tuesdays with Dorie is complete! YAY! I feel like I’ve accomplished so much today! |
So this week’s recipe was Apple Cheddar Scones (page 32 from Dorie Greenspan’s Baking from My Home to Yours) and was chosen by Karina of The Floured Apron. I’ve never before made scones and was very excited about giving these a try. Filled with dried apples and cheddar cheese, these came out of the oven light, flaky and delicious! I almost used this task as an excuse to buy yet another pan (for scones). It’s something I don’t really need but it’s on my wish list along with a Biscotti Pan. Don’t forget to check out all the other TWD creations!
I had almost all of the ingredients on hand. The only things needed were buttermilk, dried apples and grated cheddar cheese. I made the mistake of buying shredded cheddar cheese and it didn’t effect the outcome of the scones. I also made two batches of scones. One that I cut into 12 rectangles and one which I used a biscuit cutter on. The second batch I’ll take to work on Monday. I don’t know how well it will go over with the guys. I work with 20 guys and the majority of them keep asking me when I’m going to bring them baked goodies. I think they’re more looking for cakes, pies and sweet junky stuff. I’ll see how scones go over. Read more…
